Welcome to St. Angela Merici Parish School! We are a WCEA-accredited Catholic TK through 8th grade school located in Brea, California. Our school provides a Catholic education that focuses on academic excellence and spiritual guidance with highly qualified teachers in a safe and caring parish community.
The Mission of St. Angela Merici Parish Catholic School is to proclaim the Gospel, celebrate through worship, build community, serve others and achieve academic excellence through the discovery of each student’s gifts and talents.
St. Angela Merici Parish School is a Catholic faith community comprised of clergy, administrators, teachers, staff, parents, and students, which fosters a Christ-centered environment. We integrate our religion with all aspects of living and learning.
We recognize that parents have the primary responsibility of serving as active Christian role models in the formation of their children’s spiritual and intellectual development. To facilitate this parental responsibility, the St. Angela Merici community is a partnership that supports and provides opportunities for spiritual, academic, moral, physical, and cultural growth.
St. Angela Merici is committed to providing a faith filled, student centered environment and curriculum recognizing each individual’s differences and developing their God-given talents and gifts. Each student is challenged to expand his/her intellectual abilities through a variety of successful learning experiences. Our goal is to empower each student to become a responsible, active Christian capable of making appropriate moral decisions, facing the challenges of contemporary living.
While learning is in the context of St. Angela’s faith community, each student develops a realization that their Catholic faith is a way of life.

Saint Angela Merici was born in 1474 in Desenzano, Italy. As a young woman, Saint Angela saw a great need to provide girls with a Christian education. She opened a school in her home for the girls of her city. Soon other women in the community joined her. In 1534, she established a formal religious community, known as the Company of St. Ursula (now known as the Ursulines). Unlike the cloistered women’s religious orders of the time, the Company of St. Ursula dedicated their lives to serving God and others but did not remove themselves from the world. They lived in their own homes or in groups of two or three. At the time of Saint Angela’s death in 1540, there were 24 different communities of Ursuline sisters. Today, thousands of Ursuline Sisters work to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ on six continents, in schools as well as in ministries to the poor and oppressed.
O Lord God, You restored St. Angela’s sight when she was blind. Help us to see your love among us, and to never be blind to our Faith. St. Angela devoted her life to caring for the disabled. Grant us the compassion to always help those in need, and the dedication to live a faith-filled life as she did. As St. Angela taught young girls who had no education, may we always value our teachers. Bring us closer to You, O Lord God, and lead us on our journey to your heavenly kingdom. St. Angela Merici, pray for us.
Thousands of children have been offered a first-class, faith-based education since St. Angela Merici Parish School first opened its doors more than 50 years ago. St. Angela Merici is an energetic and thriving community that maintains both its traditions of academic excellence and its vision for a bright future in Catholic education.
The Brea Mission is established at the intersection of Fir St and Walnut Ave in Brea.
