Blessing of the Animals

We will be celebrating the Feast of St. Francis on October 4th at 8:15 am.  Our students will be walking out on the blacktop after morning prayer and announcements.  Students may bring a live animal, a picture of any animal, a stuffed animal, etc.  St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the ecology, was a Roman Catholic saint who took the gospel literally by following all Jesus said and did.

SAMPS Photos/Its What We Do.jpg

This is our emphasis as we celebrate our Stewardship Jubilee Year at Saint Angela Merici – Responding to the teachings of Jesus for 50 years (Mission Statement). Saint Angela Merici continues in its evolution into history as we realize together as a Community of Faith the Kingdom of God. There are many who have given themselves that we may embrace what we often take for granted, and it is to these dedicated parishioners both living and dead that we owe our thanks. As we celebrate our Jubilee, it is a time to
reflect on “what we do after we say ‘I believe.” So often we think of “do” in terms of “doing something,” but a more radical understanding of stewardship is not
about the things we do, but the willingness to embrace an alternative perspective of giving which rises out of who we are, and because “we are who we are” this is the reason we do what we do! Stewardship is not about giving to a need, rather it is our need to give, because that is who we are and that is what we do.
