It’s not too late for your son or daughter to participate in the last SummerFest Early Bird drawing for St. Angela’s students.  Just turn in your raffle tickets along with payment to the school office by May 22nd drawings.

Friday: Students can buy a popsicle for one dollar and/or donate one dollar to wear jeans on Friday. Student may wear jean shorts. Girl’s jean shorts must be the same length as a regular school uniform pair of shorts. All proceeds will benefit  Make-A-Wish Foundation.  The popsicle sale will be at both lunches.

May Crowning is this Thursday May 16th at 9:30. We ask that each student bring one flower to school on that day. Please take all flowers to the lunch benches by 8:00 A.M.  We appreciate your support as we celebrate our Blessed Mother Mary along with the living rosary.

We would like to thank each one of you for your support for Mrs. Windisch and her family during this difficult time.  As a reminder, we will be attending the funeral service on Tuesday at 10:00 am. We understand and support your decision if you choose not to send your student. We will have supervision for all students not attending. The dress attire for Tuesday will be mass uniform. St. Angela Merici Parish School

Exclusively available to SAM School kids, their siblings, and alumni, the 2013 SummerFest Weekend Wrist Band allows access to all rides for the entire three day weekend. Bands are available for $70 each, and can be purchased in the school office via check, or purchased this Sunday on the Church plaza via check or credit card. Please look for or contact Sheryl Banning if you would like to pay by credit card.  Daily wristbands and discounted ride tickets will also be sold on the plaza.

1.  Choral Festival held at St Angela Church on Wednesday, May 1st.  Start time is 9:15 and singing is throughout the day.  Any parent is invited to stop by and listen to schools performing.  We welcome over 12 schools to our campus and our 1st grade class will be performing.

2.  Financial Aide- School year 2013-2014- ALL applications are due, tomorrow, May 1st.

Dear St Angela families:

Father Michael and Mrs. Nancy Windisch would like to say thank you to Mrs. JoAnn Telles for serving as assistant principal this last school year.  Mrs. Telles announced her resignation from her position effective at the end of this school year. 

In addition to her role as assistant principal this school year, Mrs. Telles served our community as the part time vice principal, 2^nd grade teacher and 5^th grade teacher.  Please share our gratitude for Mrs. Telles as we thank her for her leadership at St. Angela Merici Parish School.  She looks forward to pursue her career as the Principal at St. Joseph School in Placentia. We share our blessings for her future professional endeavors.

The current administration will begin the search for a new assistant principal to join us before the start of the 2013-2014 school year.  All announcements for positions will be made by June 1^st, 2013.

Father Michael and Mrs. Windisch came together last week to discuss the future of weekly Eucharist for the students.  With the Lenten season ending and our students celebrating Easter, the administration has decided to finish this school year with 3rd-8th grade coming over to the parish church once a week.  We strongly believe our students in PK-2nd are benefiting from the teachings of the Eucharist for the rest of the school year.  This week we will be following the schedule:
Monday am- 6th-8th Grade attends Eucharist at 8:00 am
Tuesday am- PK/K   9:00 am with Father Michael/ 1st/2nd   9:30 am with Father Michael
Thursday am- 3rd/5th Grade attends Eucharist at 8:00 am
Friday am- 4th
Grade attends Eucharist at 8:00 am

We will also be having our prayer service for the month of April on Monday, April 22nd in the am to celebrate Earth Day.

Thank you to every family who continues to support the school and parish working together to find different ways to bring the mass to our children.  Thank you to the school staff for their flexibility these last 6 weeks.

Dear School Families,

Summerfest is rapidly approaching. It is May 31^st, June 1^st & 2^nd.  Four-4 hour shifts are required by each school family.  Below is the information on how to sign up for your shifts online.  Please sign up by Saturday, April 28th. After that date online sign ups will be unavailable during the weekends due to parishioner sign ups and the number of shift choices will be greatly reduced.

Thank you for your prompt response!  It makes our job much easier when all families sign up ASAP.

Please understand even if you have confirmed with a booth chair your intent to work a particular booth, if they have not already signed you up-you still need to signup for those shifts online. Double check with the booth chair if you are not sure. It is necessary for accurate record keeping and assuring the request.

You can access online sign up site either from link in email or directly on the school website.

1. Click on Summerfest Volunteer Sign Ups, under Useful Websites on the SAM home page. You can also click on the link below to go directly to the website.

2. Click on Volunteers Needed.
3. Click on Family log in/registration. Create your user ID & password(can be whatever you want-create your own) or you can use your last year user name and password. There is a password retrieval option if you don’t remember it.
4. Go to home page & click on available positions. Find your booth & times & sign up. Be sure to put the person/s working shifts under primary name when asked.
5. You will be required to put your user ID and password in each time you fill a new shift.
6. To edit/remove/change a shift click on Volunteer Record, log on & follow prompts.

***Reminder of mandatory shifts(this shift counts towards 1 of your 4 madatory shifts):

Sunday Tear down: 7^th grade-1 shift per 7^th grade family

Monday Clean up: 8^th grade-1 shift (parent & student)

*Bread of Angels will be running the Hamburger/American booth this year so there will not be a lot of shifts available in this booth as they are filling most of it.

I hope everyone had a great Easter and is enjoying your break this week.  While you have been away, our drinking fountains have been removed and prepartation for our new fountains started.  The Diocese of Orange is waiting for the delivery of the new parts and is giving us a time frame of 3 weeks.  I will continue to keep all families informed with this information.  In the meantime, we have our drinking fountatins by the restrooms for the students.  However, we are ENCOURAGING all students to bring their own safe, durable and easy to open water bottles due to the amount of students we have and current drinking fountains.  We appreciate everyones patience and look forward in giving your students brand new fountains!!!

6th-8th grade students/families-

We have installed more backpack hooks on the black rails for the students.  Please purchase a caribiner hook for your child’s backpacks and sports bags until we order more school hooks.  The hooks will have the student’s class number for identification purposes.

From the Jones Family:

Julia is out of surgery and in recovery.  We just spoke to the surgeon and he told us that “he couldn’t be happier” about how the surgery went.  He said it was a beautfiful heart.  We are so pleased and in awe that Julia has a new healthy heart beating inside her body.  Praise God for the blessing of getting Julia to this point.

GOD IS GOOD!!!  Tell all your students that continued prayers are needed and working!!!
