NEW TILE WALL PROJECT

 

Color Me Mine will be coming to St. Angela Merici School to help us create a beautiful garden themed tile wall with tiles designed and painted by your children.

This porject will take place in school during the month of March, help your child create an idea and design for their tile so they may be part of the St. Angela Merici Parish School legacy.

 

Tiles are offered at $25.00 each.  Forms are avaliable in the school office.  Completed tile design and paymment are due no later than Friday, February 24, 2012.

 

 

SAFETY COMES FIRST FOR OUR STUDENTS!!!!

 

 

1.  We have our neighbors very concerned about the speeding of some of our parents.  We need to SLOW down in the morning and afternoon while dropping off our students.  

 

2.  All Parents MUST check in the front office anytime you are on campus.  Please sign in and wear the yellow badge.  

 

3.  Student Restrooms are ONLY for the students during school hours.  All parents, please use the office restroom if you are on campus.

Diocese of Orange Formally Acquires  
Crystal Cathedral and Adjacent Campus
Orange, CA The Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange announced on February 3, 2012 the 
close of escrow for the Crystal Cathedral and its adjacent 30.9 acre campus in Garden 
Grove. Formal transfer of title to the Diocese has been made. Occupancy of the campus 
and use of the cathedral itself will not be immediate.  Under the terms of the agreement, Crystal Cathedral Ministries may continue to use the church and some other campus structures for a period of up to three years. Operational and administrative transfer 
of the Memorial Gardens to the Diocese will be immediate. A diocesan pastoral center 
will be established on the site in due course in anticipation that nearby Catholic St. Callistus parish to eventually transfer to the new campus.

CHURCH TOWER  
The Engineers of the Diocese of Orange have determined because 
the Church Tower was not retrofitted at the time of the church 
retrofit and the other facilities on the site, it is unsafe and must 
be demolished.  The cost to retrofit the Tower would exceed the 
amount to replace it.  As we begin the process of fulfilling our 
promise to create a Prayer Garden and Welcome Gathering Area 
in front of the church, to include a statue of Saint Angela Merici, 
the Memorial Bench for the Unborn, a Water Fountain (all of which have already been donated) and the preservation of the cross from the Tower. The total cost for this project is $60,000.  
We have secured the firm of Pinner Construction Company, who has graciously agreed to furnish all labor, materials, tools and equipment that is necessary to demolish the tower.  We are 
most grateful to them.  We have received $3,000 each from twelve donors: 
    John & Monica  McEntee,    John &  Marilyn Pinner,   Dennis & Janice Curley, Dr. & Mrs. Gerard Jensen,  Benjamin &  Emma Macaraeg, Carrey Nelson,  John & Annie Nicoletti, William & Melanie Switzer 
 
Together with other previous donors, along with Keith Myers and four other generous anonymous donors, we almost have $30,000. All of our wonderful people who are supporting us in this venture will be honored by a special memorial plaque as part of our Prayer

Welcome back to school.  I hope everyone had a wonderful summer.  Now that we are back in school and settling into a school routine, please remember to clip and save your Campbell Soup Labels for Education. There is a container in the school office to collect your Campbell Soup Labels and box tops. The soup labels can be redeemed for items to improve our school.  Last year we saved enough Campbell Soup Labels to redeem for Super Spring balls for Kinder.  Two years ago, we were able to get Balance Weights for 1st and 3rd grades. Accumulated labels can be redeemed for sports equipment, science and math resources, as well as, art supplies.  When clipping your labels, please make sure you include the UPC (bar code) on the
label.  A label without the UPC cannot be redeemed for points or products.  If you have any questions, please call Lisa Curley at (714) 525-8033.

Pre-Kinder at St Angela Merici Parish School

 

If you are a current family and HAVE NOT turned in your admission form for Pre-Kinder.. We need this ASAP.  We are full in our Pre-Kinder for the year 2012-2013, however, we are in the process of getting an approved license from 12 students to 17 students.  We will keep all parents informed with the current status.

 

 

INCOMING KINDER STUDENTS- 2012-2013

 

ALL Current Families MUST turn in an interest form for their incoming Kinder student.  There is a meeting February 15th that EVERY parent MUST attend to sign up for Kinder Testing.  Please turn in your form to the front office.

Diocese of Orange Formally Acquires  
Crystal Cathedral and Adjacent Campus
Orange, CA The Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange announced on February 3, 2012 the 
close of escrow for the Crystal Cathedral and its adjacent 30.9 acre campus in Garden 
Grove. Formal transfer of title to the Diocese has been made. Occupancy of the campus 
and use of the cathedral itself will not be immediate.  Under the terms of the agreement, Crystal Cathedral Ministries may continue to use the church and some other campus structures for a period of up to three years. Operational and administrative transfer 
of the Memorial Gardens to the Diocese will be immediate. A diocesan pastoral center 
will be established on the site in due course in anticipation that nearby Catholic St. Callistus parish to eventually transfer to the new campus.

CHURCH TOWER  
The Engineers of the Diocese of Orange have determined because 
the Church Tower was not retrofitted at the time of the church 
retrofit and the other facilities on the site, it is unsafe and must 
be demolished.  The cost to retrofit the Tower would exceed the 
amount to replace it.  As we begin the process of fulfilling our 
promise to create a Prayer Garden and Welcome Gathering Area 
in front of the church, to include a statue of Saint Angela Merici, 
the Memorial Bench for the Unborn, a Water Fountain (all of which have already been donated) and the preservation of the cross from the Tower. The total cost for this project is $60,000.  
We have secured the firm of Pinner Construction Company, who has graciously agreed to furnish all labor, materials, tools and equipment that is necessary to demolish the tower.  We are 
most grateful to them.  We have received $3,000 each from twelve donors: 
    John & Monica  McEntee,    John &  Marilyn Pinner,   Dennis & Janice Curley, Dr. & Mrs. Gerard Jensen,  Benjamin &  Emma Macaraeg, Carrey Nelson,  John & Annie Nicoletti, William & Melanie Switzer 
 
Together with other previous donors, along with Keith Myers and four other generous anonymous donors, we almost have $30,000. All of our wonderful people who are supporting us in this venture will be honored by a special memorial plaque as part of our Prayer 
Garden and Welcome Gathering Area in the front of the church.   We are looking for families to donate $3,000 each, so our vision for a wonder welcoming area can be completed for the front of our church on Walnut Avenue.  Please help make this dream of ours come true!

Welcome back to school.  I hope everyone had a wonderful summer.  Now that we are back in school and settling into a school routine, please remember to clip and save your Campbell Soup Labels for Education. There is a container in the school office to collect your Campbell Soup Labels and box tops. The soup labels can be redeemed for items to improve our school.  Last year we saved enough Campbell Soup Labels to redeem for Super Spring balls for Kinder.  Two years ago, we were able to get Balance Weights for 1st and 3rd grades. Accumulated labels can be redeemed for sports equipment, science and math resources, as well as, art supplies.  When clipping your labels, please make sure you include the UPC (bar code) on the
label.  A label without the UPC cannot be redeemed for points or products.  If you have any questions, please call Lisa Curley at (714) 525-8033.

Pre-Kinder at St Angela Merici Parish School

 

If you are a current family and HAVE NOT turned in your admission form for Pre-Kinder.. We need this ASAP.  We are full in our Pre-Kinder for the year 2012-2013, however, we are in the process of getting an approved license from 12 students to 17 students.  We will keep all parents informed with the current status.

Count Your Target Red Card CREDIT Purchases Toward Cougar Cash!

If you would like your Target Red Credit Card purchases to count toward your annual Cougar Cash commitment, please follow-up with Christine Marick for specific instructions.  The Target 1% donation will count toward your Cougar Cash commitment every August, when Target sends the school a new check, so you have plenty of time to start tracking!  Unfortunately, Target does not provide data for Red Debit Cards, and we have no way to track these accounts.

CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS

 

Welcome back to school.  I hope everyone had a wonderful summer.  Now that we are back in school and settling into a school routine, please remember to clip and save your Campbell Soup Labels for Education. There is a container in the school office to collect your Campbell Soup Labels and box tops. The soup labels can be redeemed for items to improve our school.  Last year we saved enough Campbell Soup Labels to redeem for Super Spring balls for Kinder.  Two years ago, we were able to get Balance Weights for 1st and 3rd grades. Accumulated labels can be redeemed for sports equipment, science and math resources, as well as, art supplies.  When clipping your labels, please make sure you include the UPC (bar code) on the
label.  A label without the UPC cannot be redeemed for points or products.  If you have any questions, please call Lisa Curley at (714) 525-8033.

The Light of Christ Emblem is awarded upon the completion of a program designed to help Tiger and Wolf Scouts develop a personal relationship with Jesus.  The Parvuli Dei program is designed to help Bear and Webelos Scouts discover the presence of God in their lives.

Pre-Kinder at St Angela Merici Parish School

 

If you are a current family and HAVE NOT turned in your admission form for Pre-Kinder.. We need this ASAP.  We are full in our Pre-Kinder for the year 2012-2013, however, we are in the process of getting an approved license from 12 students to 17 students.  We will keep all parents informed with the current status.

 

 

INCOMING KINDER STUDENTS- 2012-2013

 

ALL Current Families MUST turn in an interest form for their incoming Kinder student.  There is a meeting February 15th that EVERY parent MUST attend to sign up for Kinder Testing.  Please turn in your form to the front office.

St. Angela Merici Parish School has a pre-school license!!!

 

The 6 months of hard work has come to an end and we are pleased to announce that we have received our preschool license which allows us to add to our Junior Kindergarten program.

If you would like your child to finish out the year with us and continue to prepare for our kindergarten, please inquire with the office.  We will welcome 6 additional students beginning February 6th, 2012.  Children must have turned 4 by September 1st, 2011.  If you are interested in the 2012-2013 school year, a $100 non refundable deposit will be accepted Sunday, January 29th, 2012 at Open House.  With the addition of the 4 year olds and the class ratio of 1:12 the class will fill quickly.

Throughout the country, the week begins with a Mass that brings together members of the parish and school communities to celebrate the Eucharist. Our Science Fair will be in the parish hall, Student Store will be open, Book Fair and all classroomswill be open with student decorations and a barbeque by our new lunch tables.

 

This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Academics. Service.”  This theme expresses our school’s focus on learning about faith, striving for high academic standards, and serving our community.  We have planned a variety of events that demonstrate how we are doing it.  Come see what makes St. Angela Merici Parish School exceptional!

Our annual “Family Picnic” will be held during the talent show on Friday, February 3rd at 12:30.  Parents, siblings, grandparents, relatives may join us on the grass for a picnic.  Please bring lunch for your family.  You may also bring lawn chairs, blankets, and more.

It’s not too late to register for the Annual Girl Scout Father Daughter Dance! You and your dad are invited to a Winter Wonderland dance on January 28, 2012 in the Parish Hall.  The dance will be from 6:30 to 8:30 and we will be serving ice cream sundaes and lemonade.  The cost is $4 per person attending.  You do not have to be a Girl Scout to attend. Please RSVP by January 27.  Flyers are available in the school office and can be left in the Scout mail box in the school office.  Contact Lisa Carrasco at 714-488-3522 orJLCarrasco@sbcglobal.net with any questions.  Come dance the night away with dad. CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS

 

Welcome back to school.  I hope everyone had a wonderful summer.  Now that we are back in school and settling into a school routine, please remember to clip and save your Campbell Soup Labels for Education. There is a container in the school office to collect your Campbell Soup Labels and box tops. The soup labels can be redeemed for items to improve our school.  Last year we saved enough Campbell Soup Labels to redeem for Super Spring balls for Kinder.  Two years ago, we were able to get Balance Weights for 1st and 3rd grades. Accumulated labels can be redeemed for sports equipment, science and math resources, as well as, art supplies.  When clipping your labels, please make sure you include the UPC (bar code) on the
label.  A label without the UPC cannot be redeemed for points or products.  If you have any questions, please call Lisa Curley at (714) 525-8033.

CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS

 

Welcome back to school.  I hope everyone had a wonderful summer.  Now that we are back in school and settling into a school routine, please remember to clip and save your Campbell Soup Labels for Education. There is a container in the school office to collect your Campbell Soup Labels and box tops. The soup labels can be redeemed for items to improve our school.  Last year we saved enough Campbell Soup Labels to redeem for Super Spring balls for Kinder.  Two years ago, we were able to get Balance Weights for 1st and 3rd grades. Accumulated labels can be redeemed for sports equipment, science and math resources, as well as, art supplies.  When clipping your labels, please make sure you include the UPC (bar code) on the
label.  A label without the UPC cannot be redeemed for points or products.  If you have any questions, please call Lisa Curley at (714) 525-8033.

St. Angela Merici Parish School has a pre-school license!!!

 

The 6 months of hard work has come to an end and we are pleased to announce that we have received our preschool license which allows us to add to our Junior Kindergarten program.

If you would like your child to finish out the year with us and continue to prepare for our kindergarten, please inquire with the office.  We will welcome 6 additional students beginning February 6th, 2012.  Children must have turned 4 by September 1st, 2011.  If you are interested in the 2012-2013 school year, a $100 non refundable deposit will be accepted Sunday, January 29th, 2012 at Open House.  With the addition of the 4 year olds and the class ratio of 1:12 the class will fill quickly.

3.  Student Restrooms are ONLY for the students during school hours.  All parents, please use the office restroom if you are on campus.

Online orders or changes are due no later  than 9:00am one day  prior to service. The cost per meal is $4.25 for a Junior portion and $5.00 for a Regular portion. Kinder

Sonoma Baumgartner is an excellent disciple. She exemplifies the motto of St. Angela Merici Parish School. She is Reverent, Respectful and Responsible. Sonoma goes above and beyond of what is expected of her and exhibits interest in everything she does. We are very proud of her for being the student that she is. 

 

1st

This month Danica Silvestri has been selected as 1st grade’s Disciple of the Month.  She is a sweet and respectful student in the classroom and on the playground.  Danica creates a kind and gentle atmosphere for those around her.  She is a good role model of reverence in Church and in the classroom.  

 

2nd

 Sofia Pasino is always considerate, self-motivated and strives to do her best in all her work. She is gift to her friends, family and others. She works hard and always has a smile. Sofia shows great leadership qualities, is a positive role model and always makes sure to get any job done even when not directed to do so.

 

3rd

Alyssa Hoskins is our Disciple of the Month for third grade.  Alyssa exemplifies both our school motto and classroom expectations.  She makes great contributions to class discussions and works hard in all that she does. We also appreciate her willingness to help both her classmates and teachers.  

 

4th

Tristen Wilson is disciple of the month because he is considerate and friendly to others.  

He works hard in class to complete his assignments and puts forth a lot of effort.

Tristen is polite to others and always comes to class with a smile on his face. He is a great addition to our school this year.

 

5th

Stephanie Shatynski is a very hard worker.  Reflecting on this week’s SLE, a quality producer who develops and utilizes his/her God given talents, Stephanie comes to mind.  She produces quality work and puts effort into each assignment.  Stephanie is detailed oriented and makes sure each assignment is a good reflection of her.  She asks questions when she needs clarification and keeps herself organized by utilizing her assignment pad as a valuable tool.  

 

6th

Alex Josten has really shown strong responsibility by always remembering his classroom job and working hard to stay organized for school. Alex is friendly and helpful to his teachers and classmates and wants to use his knowledge of technology to help others. Alex is involved with campus ministry and green team in school and scouts outside of school. He is very reverent at Eucharist and prayer services. Alex always asks excellent questions during class that benefit his peers. 

 

7th

Matthew Mura is a very responsible student who comes to class prepared each day with his assignments completed.  Matthew follows directions the first time they are given and his work consistently reflects well thought out answers and a high level of critical thinking.  He has excellent study skills which are reflected in his high test scores.  In addition to academic achievement, Matthew is always polite and respectful to his teachers and classmates.  

 

8th

Fiorella Zapata is highly energized and always full of enthusiasm for all of her schoolwork.  Fiorella is reliable and responsible with her tasks and has never missed a practice assignment. You can expect an animated, informed, and lively response when she is called upon in class. She seems to enjoy St. Angela’s so much that she has hardly been sick her entire eighth grade year. Amazing!  She is very reverent when attending Eucharist and speaking about her faith and trust in God. Fiorella also shows responsibility when she proudly and properly wears her St. Angela school uniform.

Throughout the country, the week begins with a Mass that brings together members of the parish and school communities to celebrate the Eucharist. Our Science Fair will be in the parish hall, Student Store will be open, Book Fair and all classroomswill be open with student decorations and a barbeque by our new lunch tables.

 

This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Academics. Service.”  This theme expresses our school’s focus on learning about faith, striving for high academic standards, and serving our community.  We have planned a variety of events that demonstrate how we are doing it.  Come see what makes St. Angela Merici Parish School exceptional!

It’s time for the St. Angela Merici’s Talent Show!!!  You can bring any talent like singing, dancing, juggling, and music to perform in front or your peers.  Forms are in the front office..

 

Our annual “Family Picnic” will be held during the talent show on Friday, February 3rd at 12:30.  Parents, siblings, grandparents, relatives may join us on the grass for a picnic.  Please bring lunch for your family.  You may also bring lawn chairs, blankets, and more.

 

 

Father Daughter Dance

Attention ALL St. Angela girls: It’s time for the Annual Girl Scout Father Daughter Dance! You and your dad are invited to a Winter Wonderland dance on January 28, 2012 in the Parish Hall.  The dance will be from 6:30 to 8:30 and we will be serving ice cream sundaes and lemonade.  The cost is $4 per person attending.  You do not have to be a Girl Scout to attend. Count Your Target Red Card CREDIT Purchases Toward Cougar Cash!

If you would like your Target Red Credit Card purchases to count toward your annual Cougar Cash commitment, please follow-up with Christine Marick for specific instructions.  The Target 1% donation will count toward your Cougar Cash commitment every August, when Target sends the school a new check, so you have plenty of time to start tracking!  Unfortunately, Target does not provide data for Red Debit Cards, and we have no way to track these accounts.

Sonoma Baumgartner is an excellent disciple. She exemplifies the motto of St. Angela Merici Parish School. She is Reverent, Respectful and Responsible. Sonoma goes above and beyond of what is expected of her and exhibits interest in everything she does. We are very proud of her for being the student that she is. 

 

1st

This month Danica Silvestri has been selected as 1st grade’s Disciple of the Month.  She is a sweet and respectful student in the classroom and on the playground.  Danica creates a kind and gentle atmosphere for those around her.  She is a good role model of reverence in Church and in the classroom.  

 

2nd

 Sofia Pasino is always considerate, self-motivated and strives to do her best in all her work. She is gift to her friends, family and others. She works hard and always has a smile. Sofia shows great leadership qualities, is a positive role model and always makes sure to get any job done even when not directed to do so.

 

3rd

Alyssa Hoskins is our Disciple of the Month for third grade.  Alyssa exemplifies both our school motto and classroom expectations.  She makes great contributions to class discussions and works hard in all that she does. We also appreciate her willingness to help both her classmates and teachers.  

 

4th

Tristen Wilson is disciple of the month because he is considerate and friendly to others.  

He works hard in class to complete his assignments and puts forth a lot of effort.

Tristen is polite to others and always comes to class with a smile on his face. He is a great addition to our school this year.

 

5th

Stephanie Shatynski is a very hard worker.  Reflecting on this week’s SLE, a quality producer who develops and utilizes his/her God given talents, Stephanie comes to mind.  She produces quality work and puts effort into each assignment.  Stephanie is detailed oriented and makes sure each assignment is a good reflection of her.  She asks questions when she needs clarification and keeps herself organized by utilizing her assignment pad as a valuable tool.  

 

6th

Alex Josten has really shown strong responsibility by always remembering his classroom job and working hard to stay organized for school. Alex is friendly and helpful to his teachers and classmates and wants to use his knowledge of technology to help others. Alex is involved with campus ministry and green team in school and scouts outside of school. He is very reverent at Eucharist and prayer services. Alex always asks excellent questions during class that benefit his peers. 

 

7th

Matthew Mura is a very responsible student who comes to class prepared each day with his assignments completed.  Matthew follows directions the first time they are given and his work consistently reflects well thought out answers and a high level of critical thinking.  He has excellent study skills which are reflected in his high test scores.  In addition to academic achievement, Matthew is always polite and respectful to his teachers and classmates.  

 

8th

Fiorella Zapata is highly energized and always full of enthusiasm for all of her schoolwork.  Fiorella is reliable and responsible with her tasks and has never missed a practice assignment. You can expect an animated, informed, and lively response when she is called upon in class. She seems to enjoy St. Angela’s so much that she has hardly been sick her entire eighth grade year. Amazing!  She is very reverent when attending Eucharist and speaking about her faith and trust in God. Fiorella also shows responsibility when she proudly and properly wears her St. Angela school uniform.

Catholic School’s Week:  January 29th- February 3rd, 2012

 

 

Throughout the country, the week begins with a Mass that brings together members of the parish and school communities to celebrate the Eucharist. Our Science Fair will be in the parish hall, Student Store will be open, Book Fair and all classroomswill be open with student decorations and a barbeque by our new lunch tables.

 

This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Academics. Service.”  This theme expresses our school’s focus on learning about faith, striving for high academic standards, and serving our community.  We have planned a variety of events that demonstrate how we are doing it.  Come see what makes St. Angela Merici Parish School exceptional!

St. Angela Merici’s Annual Talent Show!!!

It’s time for the St. Angela Merici’s Talent Show!!!  You can bring any talent like singing, dancing, juggling, and music to perform in front or your peers.  Forms are in the front office..

 

Our annual “Family Picnic” will be held during the talent show on Friday, February 3rd at 12:30.  Parents, siblings, grandparents, relatives may join us on the grass for a picnic.  Please bring lunch for your family.  You may also bring lawn chairs, blankets, and more.

Father Daughter Dance

Attention ALL St. Angela girls: It’s time for the Annual Girl Scout Father Daughter Dance! You and your dad are invited to a Winter Wonderland dance on January 28, 2012 in the Parish Hall.  The dance will be from 6:30 to 8:30 and we will be serving ice cream sundaes and lemonade.  The cost is $4 per person attending.  You do not have to be a Girl Scout to attend. Count Your Target Red Card CREDIT Purchases Toward Cougar Cash!

If you would like your Target Red Credit Card purchases to count toward your annual Cougar Cash commitment, please follow-up with Christine Marick for specific instructions.  The Target 5% donation will count toward your Cougar Cash commitment every August, when Target sends the school a new check, so you have plenty of time to start tracking!  Unfortunately, Target does not provide data for Red Debit Cards, and we have no way to track these accounts.

CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS

 

Welcome back to school.  I hope everyone had a wonderful summer.  Now that we are back in school and settling into a school routine, please remember to clip and save your Campbell Soup Labels for Education. There is a container in the school office to collect your Campbell Soup Labels and box tops. The soup labels can be redeemed for items to improve our school.  Last year we saved enough Campbell Soup Labels to redeem for Super Spring balls for Kinder.  Two years ago, we were able to get Balance Weights for 1st and 3rd grades. Accumulated labels can be redeemed for sports equipment, science and math resources, as well as, art supplies.  When clipping your labels, please make sure you include the UPC (bar code) on the
label.  A label without the UPC cannot be redeemed for points or products.  If you have any questions, please call Lisa Curley at (714) 525-8033.
