Charity of the Month

“This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.”

2 Corinthians 9:12

In accordance with the church’s social teachings and the St. Angela Merici Parish School Student Learning Expectations, all students shall be given the opportunities to provide service within our local community. It is our responsibility to give back to our community with our time and talent to make a difference.

The charities our school focuses on for the school year:

September : Fullerton’s Love of Orange County Kids

Fullerton’s Love of Orange County Kids is a non-profit organization whose mission is to end the cycle of child homelessness in Orange County. FLOCK supports children who are identified as homeless through the McKinney-Vento Act.

October : Breastlink

Breastlink is a network of breast health centers in Orange County and Temecula Valley that combines the expertise of medical experts at each point of the care continuum (diagnostic imaging, pathology, surgery, medical oncology and radiation oncology). St. Angela students will be supporting this charity through fundraisers and will also be making chemo bags for breast cancer patients.

November : Active Christians Today (ACT) Office Food Drive

The ACT Office at St. Angela Merici Church was established to help those in need by providing food and government commodities to needy families, homeless and hungry individuals.  Students will support their food drive by donating nonperishable food items.

December
: OC United Toy Drive

OC United provides restorative relationships, a healing home and personal development for those who have experienced the breakdown of the family unit. Our students collect gifts, toys and money to donate to the drive.

January : Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House  provides housing for families with a sick child that’s near their hospitalized child, the expense of staying together in another city or gets basic medical and dental care in a vulnerable community. They have local Chapters in more than 64 countries and regions.

February : Kids Heart Challenge

Together with the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION, our school children raise money by jump roping and exercising during one designated day.  Teaching our students to stay healthy is very important along with educating them about heart disease.

March : Catholic Relief Services

The Catholic Relief Services is the official relief and development agency of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Through CRS Rice Bowl, faith communities in every diocese throughout the U.S. put their faith into action through prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

April : St.Angela Merici Parish School Jog-a-Thon

Our school community helps raise money for St. Angela Merici Parish School through our newest fundraiser, the Jog-a-Thon.

May : Re-Book It

Re-Book It is a free community service provided by The Last Bookstore created for three purposes: (1) to ensure that no books end up in landfills, but instead find new homes, (2) to provide low-cost books and raise funds for local libraries, charities, hospitals and schools, and (3)  to help preserve one of the last remaining independent bookstores in Los Angeles by providing it with books it can sell to readers everywhere.
