Family Mass Reminder

 

Our next Family Mass will be held Saturday, October 27th at 5:00 PM. Kindergarten and 6th grade are hosting and are encouraged to sign up HERE. All students who attend in formal uniform may wear free dress on Monday, October 29th (please see the School Handbook for free dress guidelines). We will also have dinner and a movie on the field after Mass! Please join us for a faith-filled, community bonding evening. 

 

Red Ribbon Week

 

Next week, October 22nd – 26th, is Red Ribbon Week! This year’s Red Ribbon Week theme is Life is Your Journey. Travel Drug Free. Read through the following list for details specific to each day of Red Ribbon Week:

  • Monday: Proud to be Drug Free, Wear red with jeans or uniform bottoms to show our pride!
  • Tuesday: Our Futures are Bright Because We are Drug Free, Wear neon/bright colors and sunglasses with jeans or uniform bottoms to shine brightly!
  • Wednesday: Do-nut Do Drugs!, Wear black with jeans or uniform bottoms to show we blackout drugs on campus! $1 donut sale will be happening to raise money for the Red Ribbon Campaign.
  • Thursday: Say Goodnight to Drugs, Wear pajamas to show we say goodnight to drugs!
  • Friday: Team Up Against Drugs, Wear sports team gear/jersey with jeans or uniform bottoms to show our teamwork! At 2:00 PM, we will be having a walk-a-thon to unite and walk out on drugs.

Items Needed for Auction Dinner

 

Baskets and trays are needed for the Auction Dinner. Please drop them off to the Front Office as soon as possible. Thank you for your help in making this night a success!

 

Used Uniform Sale

 

There is another Used Uniform Sale tomorrow, October 19th, after school in the Convent. If you missed the last Used Uniform Sale or would like to purchase more clothing, be sure to stop by!

 

Congratulations, SAM Artists!

 

Congratulations to our very talented SAM Artists for winning Best Use of Color in the annual Brea Loves Art contest! SAM Artists,  Nicole P., Ayden K., Madison B., Danielle M., Kaila P., Chrysanne M. and Bianca H. created the beautiful piece below to the Brea Loves Art theme for 2018, “Small Town, Big Spirit”. Bullying Prevention Month

 

Every week in October, St. Angela Merici Parish School will educate students on how to STOMP Out Bullying and cyberbullying. 

  • Week 3: Cyberbullying Awareness
  • Week 4: Be the Change – Youth Leadership in Action

On October 31st, our school will be celebrating Halloween! We have a great day planned and we encourage parents to come be involved in the festivities. Candy donations are greatly appreciated. 

 

Schedule:

  • 8:15 AM – Trunk or Treat and Parade
  • 11:00 AM – Class Parties
  • 12:00 PM – Early Dismissal  *There will be no carline, so parents must pick their children up from their classrooms.
  • Optional for TK-2nd – 1:00 PM – Trick or Treat Parade at Senior Center  *Details below  
Costumes: 
Just like any day, we do expect our students to dress appropriately. While Halloween costumes are permitted, we ask that your child refrains from wearing any scary or inappropriate costume. Additionally, no masks that cover the entire face, blood, weapons, or scary clown costumes are permitted. This will be a very fun, happy, and friendly event for our students.

 

Trunk or Treat Details:

If you are participating in the Trunk or Treat, please arrive on the blacktop between 7:30-7:45 AM to set up. Students will arrive on the blacktop by 8:20 AM. Please text Andrea Curley at 714-931-3887 if you are able to participate or if you have any questions.

 
Invitation to Trick or Treat Parade for TK-2nd Grade: 
TK-2nd Grade Students are Invited to a Trick or Treat Parade after school on Oct. 31st at 1pm at Villagio at Capriana Memory Care Center in Brea. 
Students are to arrive at 1pm in their Halloween Costumes to sing a couple Halloween Songs they have been practicing in music for these residents then Trick or Treat. This senior community is so excited to welcome our St. Angela little ones to sing and Trick or Treat.  Address: 454 S. La Floresta Dr., Brea 92823. The Senior Center is located next to Whole Foods Market.
