SCHOOL ABSENT POLICIES

When a student is absent from school, a parent should call the office by 9:00 am each day of the absence.  If the office does not receive a call, a parent will be contacted.  This policy is for the protection of the St. Angela Merici Parish School students.

Students should be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.

The school calendar provides for extended weekends throughout the school year.  Parents are encouraged to schedule trips or family outings during these times so as to eliminate the need to interrupt a child’s learning process.  Missed assignments are the student’s responsibility.

Students who are absent due to illness have one day for each day of absence to make up the missed assignments, quizzes or tests.  For example, a student who was absent three days would be given three school days to complete the missed work.

Arrangements for regular classroom tests missed because of an absence are to be made with the individual teachers.  These tests must be taken within one week of the original test date.

Excessive absence (40) days or the equivalent of 40 days including tardies can be cause for a student to be retained in the current grade for another year.

Excused Absences

The following reasons would be considered excused absences: illness, medical/dental procedures, family emergency, attending a funeral for immediate family, quarantine (official), high school shadowing and school- initiated absence.  All class work must be made up according to the Practice/Prep make up guidelines as indicated.

Unexcused Absences

Family trips, vacations, etc. during the regular school year are not considered acceptable reasons for absence and are strongly discouraged by the school.  Regular attendance is a key to student success as classroom participation and instruction is very important and impossible to make up.  It is the parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to ensure that students are up-to-date on all key concepts covered during their absence.

Dinner Auction- November 8th

Tickets or Auction Item are due October 17th

As you know, each St Angela family is required to purchase two tickets and attend the event. However, if you can’t attend the auction, you are required to either donate $400 or donate an item or items with a value of at least $400. Included with your invitation is a “Golden Ticket.”  The purchase price of this ticket is $100 and if your ticket is selected during the drawing, you will have the opportunity to choose from all live auction items, with the exception of the Kindergarten Quilt and 8th Grade Art Project. If you wish to purchase a Golden Ticket, complete the ticket stub and return it with your RSVP card. Golden Tickets will also be available to purchase at the auction during the Silent Auction.

The fun starts at 5:30 with a silent auction. In addition to approximately 100 silent auction baskets, you will have the opportunity to bid on memorable teacher/student experiences, donated by our wonderful St Angela teachers.  Enjoy cocktails and butler-passed hors d’oeuvres while bidding on one-of-a-kind artwork created by our clever and artistic students. Don’t forget to step up to the Wine Wheel and take it for a “spin.”  Every spin guarantees that you will take home a bottle of wine.

A SAM Student’s Faith Journey Response:

“I am God’s masterpiece.  No one is junk, even if you feel like you are.  Just now that you are not junk and that you matter.  We all have sins that we try to hide but God knows about them.  We ask him to chisel away there sinds and help us start with a clean new slate.  We may ask him to help us become something more then “junk” as we call ourselves.  We are God’s original masterpiece even when he has to chisel away our sins.
