Benedict XVI Formally Ends His Papacy and Leaves Vatican
The period of transition between the end of one papacy and the beginning of another is referred to by two names. “Sede vacante,” in the Church’s official Latin, is translated “vacant see,” meaning that the see (or diocese) of Rome is without a bishop. In the 20th century this transition averaged just 17 days. It is also referred to as the Interregnum, a reference to the days when popes were also temporal monarchs who reigned over vast territories. This situation has almost always been created by the death of a pope, but it may also be created by resignation, as is the case with Pope Benedict XVI.
Stations of the Cross- Friday at 9:15 am

SummerFest is pleased to express added appreciation to those SAM school families who secure by their own efforts new corporate or business sponsors for the 2013 event. For every $500 in cash contribution from a new sponsor secured by a school family, one weekend rides wristband will be awarded to that family. “New” sponsor means a sponsor that has not contributed to SummetFest (either in-kind or by cash) in any of the past three events (2010-2012). Each wristband award is subject to the actual receipt of the sponsorship proceeds and awarded only for increments of $500. A list of “reserved” sponsors that have contributed in the past three years may be found at http://sf.stangelabrea.org/sponsors/.
We are also pleased to announce that one weekend rides wristband will be extended to each SAM school family for every $500 in cash sponsorship made by that family in support of SummerFest. This wristband award is in addition to any other benefits for which a family may be eligible at the respective levels of sponsorship. Please see the event website at www.summerfestbrea.org for complete sponsorship benefits.
Contributions of goods, either as secured or donated by a school family, will be assessed at fifty percent of their market value in determining wristband awards.
For all sponsorship inquiries or questions, feel free to contact Melissa Williams. Special thanks to all SAM families for their efforts of any kind to make SummerFest a success.

Late last year, we told you about the Orange County Register’s Charity Gift Program whereby the paper issued $12.4 million in gift cheques to subscribers to gift to their favorite Orange County non-profit organizations to redeem for advertising.
We’re happy to report that St. Angela Merici Parish School earned $2,500 from this program! This means that we will be able to promote SummerFest in the Register at a greatly reduced cost to drive attendance, increase revenue, and make St. Angela’s biggest fundraiser of the year even more successful.
Thank you to all who endorsed their gift cheques to St. Angela Merici Parish School. And special thanks to those of you who spread the word among your friends and neighbors so they could do the same!
