Pope John Paul II
Love is never defeated, and I could add, the history of Ireland proves it. Pope John Paul II
(ROME, Italy) (WGGB)– More than a million people crowded into St. Peter’s Square on Sunday May 1st to witness the Beatification Mass for Pope John Paul II.
Pope Benedict celebrated the mass for the man he worked with for so long at the Vatican.
Among the highlights was the unveiling of a huge John Paul II tapestry and the placing of a vial of John Paul’s blood on the altar by the French nun whom John Paul is credited with curing of Parkinson’s disease.
ON HOLY THURSDAY, SAM CELEBRATED WITH A PRAYER SERVICE. THIS WAS PRESENTED BY OUR OWN CAMPUS MINISTRY.
BRIANNA STEMPNIAK, 8TH GRADE STUDENT, WROTE THE FOLLOWING FOR THE SERVICE:
Pope John Paul II once said, Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought. On Holy Thursday, Jesus washed the feet of his discipes. Jesus may not have wanted to do this, but he had the right to. John Paul lived his life as Jesus did. He washed the feet of Catholics all around the world; that is, he cleaned many souls of sins and made many whole again. Would you have the freedom to wash Pope John Paul’s feet? Even if you did not like it, would you have the right to do what you ought? On this Holy Thursday, pray to John Paul. Pray for clean feet, pray for freedom.
